WebRTC is designed to reduce playback delay. Reaching less than one second depends on the encoder, distance, network and device; it is not a guarantee for every viewer.
WebRTC streaming for
closer live interaction
Deliver live video to browsers with low latency for interactive sessions. WebRTC is a USD 20 monthly add-on per channel. Validate the complete path with your encoder, network and audience before the event.
Less waiting, with your usual encoder
Playback in compatible browsers. Test codecs, devices and corporate networks with your player before streaming.
An addition to your video plan, subject to compatibility with the channel’s active options.
Publish from OBS, vMix, Wirecast or a compatible encoder over RTMP/SRT. WebRTC changes browser delivery; the channel’s standard HLS URL remains available.
Contractual monthly availability on all plans, subject to the terms’ exclusions. This does not guarantee latency or the viewer’s network.
When your audience wants to participate
Lower video delay can make interaction easier. Chat, bids and responses are managed by your event application.
Live auctions
Bring the auction feed closer to remote bidders. The bidding platform must define its own deadlines and confirmations; video latency varies and does not guarantee identical timing for participants.
Presentations and live draws
Reduce the wait between production and audience playback. Rehearse the workflow with the application you use.
Esports and gaming
Deliver live commentary with less delay. Configure chat moderation and any competitive delay separately.
Live demonstrations
Show a product or process and answer questions with less video delay, without promising exact synchronization.
Interactive events
Classes and webinars with live questions. Integrate your preferred chat or participation tool.
Production monitoring
Check cameras, stages and backstage feeds in a compatible browser. Validate the network before a critical operation.
WebRTC vs LL-HLS vs HLS: for your workflow
All three are delivery protocols. RTMP/SRT ingest is a separate stage. The bars are conceptual comparisons, not measured results. Test actual latency from capture to viewer.
| Aspect | WebRTC | LL-HLS | HLS |
|---|---|---|---|
| Latency target | Subsecond target, conditions permitting | Less buffering than standard HLS | Depends on segments and buffering |
| Intended audience | Interactive sessions with prior testing | Delay-sensitive live streams | Large audiences with a CDN option |
| Participation | Low-latency video; separate interaction app | Less waiting when following a live stream | More playback buffer |
| Compatibility | Compatible browsers and codecs | Players supporting LL-HLS | Broad HLS player support |
| At XtreamCast | Add-on · +USD 20/month | Availability depends on channel and origin | Included with the video plan |
For broad distribution, consider HLS and size CDN capacity and transfer. If your audience participates , test WebRTC on the actual path. It cannot be combined with LL-HLS or Transcoder on the same channel. Read RTMP vs HLS vs WebRTC.
WebRTC for USD 20 a month. Per channel.
Add WebRTC to a compatible video plan. Review active options and request a test if you need to validate devices, network conditions or concurrency.
- The video plan is purchased separately
- USD 20/month per channel; CLP 20,000 in Chile
- Keeps RTMP/SRT ingest and the standard HLS URL
- Not compatible with LL-HLS or Transcoder on the same channel
USD 20 per month per channel, in addition to the video plan. In Chile, the add-on is listed at CLP 20,000. Review the total and terms at checkout. The channel must have a compatible configuration.
No. WebRTC supports subsecond latency targets, but capture, encoding, distance, network conditions and devices add delay. Test end to end under the actual conditions of your event.
This add-on is offered for browser playback. You can keep sending your feed over RTMP or SRT. The player uses signaling compatible with our server; this does not imply support for WHIP ingest or WHEP playback.
Not on the same channel with the current configuration. WebRTC, LL-HLS and Transcoder have compatibility restrictions. The standard HLS URL remains available. If you need several delivery modes, agree the configuration and channels with support before ordering.
WebRTC focuses on interaction with less waiting. LL-HLS reduces HLS buffering and requires activation on a compatible channel and origin. Ask support about availability; do not assume it is included or immediately available at checkout.
Size concurrency, transfer and delivery capacity before the event. HLS with a CDN is another option for broad audiences. WebRTC capacity and transfer must be sized for the event. A bidding, chat or video-conferencing application is separate.
